Information
About this stage
Most part of today’s stage goes through asphalt. You will see two rivers Minho and Ulla. You will also see lots of Romanesque churches and also the Cruceiro dos Lameiros stone cross and the Yacimiento de Castromaior site. All these things will make this stage more entertaining. It is an easy stage but sometimes you will have to walk up some slopes that could be a little bit hard.
Recommendation Pilgrim
This stage is not too hard, there’s only a couple of small gaps in the ground that you’ll be able to go through easily. There are some public and private hostels in the villages along this stage. Once passed Palas de Rei, they are advertised as if they were in the town when in reality they’re further away, so we should choose the hotel carefully.
Reduced mobility pilgrims can do this stage with no issues, although is possible they need help while going up the mountain San Antonio, or arriving at the Hospital de la Cruz.

Km 0 ‧ Portomarín
We´ll make our descent in front of the church of San Nicolás on the Rua Compostela, following the markers until we reach C-535, a road that we´ll cross on more than one occasion. From there, we we´ll leave Toxibó on the left and continue on, ascending and continuing along the C-535 road.

Km 7,9 ‧ Gonzar
After reaching the town of Gonzar, we´ll keep straight and ascend along a dirt road that runs parallel to a local road.
Km 11,5 ‧ Hospital da Cruz
After arriving Castromaior, we´ll encounter a steep slope, after which we will continue again parallel to the road until we reach Hospital da Cruz. Here you will find refreshment points. Continue crossing the national N-540 highway through the bridge located at the exit of the small town.
Km 16,2 ‧ Ligonde
We will now continue along a path parallel to the road until we reach Ligonde. From here, we´ll trek several kilometers along the well-marked highway, passing through Airexe, where we´ll reach some good stopping points to refuel and take a well-deserved rest before hitting the final stretch of today’s route.
Km 19,7 ‧ Lestedo
At this point, we´ll continue along the local asphalted road until we reach the center of Lestedo, where houses, accommodations and bar services can be found. Just two kilometers later, we´ll arrive at A Brea and begin a descent from there as we continue along the left side of the N-547 highway. Along the route we will pass through a small village called O Rosario, but there are no services here so we should push a bit forward until we reach Palas de Rei.
We will walk by the public shelter on the left and the Plaza del Concello on the right as we enter the town. Congrats! Our trek is over for today, but make sure to be well-rested for tomorrow, as it´s the longest walk of the trip – from Palas de Rei to Arzúa.
