In this stage we will leave behind the vineyards of La Rioja to give way to the extensive
cereal fields of Castilla y León. As in yesterday’s stage, we won’t have to negotiate any
steep slopes, but there will be the occasional road crossing. We will pass through several
villages along the Camino to reach Belorado, sheltered by the Sierra de la Demanda. In
addition to the remains of its imposing castle, bastion of the Cid Campeador, we can visit
some of its churches, hermitages and caves that served as settlements for ancient hermits.
Recommendation Pilgrim
This is an easy stage, there are no obstacles for any kind of pilgrim. No diffuculties are

Itinerary
Km 0 ‧ Santo Domingo de la Calzada
We follow the Calle Mayor and cross the river Oja over the bridge built over the original
bridge built by Santo Domingo de la Calzada; we take a track to the right of the road,
cross it shortly afterwards and continue parallel to it. After three and a half kilometres
we reach the Cruz de los Valientes. We continue in the same direction, parallel to the
national road N-120, heading towards Grañón.
We walk through Grañón without changing direction, along the Calle Mayor; at the end we
descend to take a farm track and, after walking by a stream, we turn left onto the second
track. Here we say goodbye to La Rioja and enter the extensive region of Castilla y León.
In the distance we can make out the Montes de Oca, as well as the villages of Redecilla
and Castildelgado. We descend following the same track and heading towards Redecilla del
Camino.
Km 10,4 ‧ Redecilla del Camino
We leave along the main street, cross the national road and follow it along a track.
Km 12 ‧ Castildelgado
We continue parallel to the national road N-120, until we turn left onto the local road
that goes up to Viloria de Rioja.
Km 14 ‧ Viloria de Rioja
We go down another local road to take a dirt track that goes along the N-120 national road
again.
Km 17,4 ‧ Villamayor del Río
Following the same pattern, we continue along a track parallel to the national road
N120.3.7 At the end of the track we cross, very carefully, the national road. We enter
