We will cover the twenty kilometres that separate Estella from the town of Los Arcos
through olive groves, wooded, deserted and even abandoned areas. The only challenge
we will have to face will be the climb to Villamayor de Monjardín and, at some points, the
lack of places to take shelter from the rain or the sun. We can end our day in Los Arcos
or continue on to Torres del Río, nine kilometres further on, where Logroño is just a
stone’s throw away.
Recommendation Pilgrim
This is not a complicated stage and it has ups and downs. The hardest part is the Villayour de
Monjardin part. As it happened in yesterday’s stage you should be careful when the route goes
through the N-111, because it has a lot of traffic at some hours of the day.
You can stay the night in any of the available accommodation of Los Arcos or walk nine kilometers
more to get to Torres del Río where you will also find many places to stay the night.
The way between Villamayor de Monjardín and Los Arcos does not have any kind of service, so if you
need something it could be better to buy it before entering in this part of the stage. Before
getting to Los Arcos, in Ázqueta and Sansol you will also find two accommodation where you can stay
the night.
If you have reduced mobility we recommend you go through the N-111 from Ázqueta to Villamayor de
Monjardín or Los Arcos but always through the road shoulder and if possible with a reflective vest.

Itinerary
Km 0 ‧ Estella
We continue along Calle de la Rua, which we entered yesterday. Without changing
direction, we continue along Calle San Nicolás and the Carlos VII road; at a roundabout
we take an uphill pedestrian path that takes us to Ayegui, which is a town attached to
Estella.
At the exit, in the Plaza San Pelayo, there is a sign indicating that we should turn left,
cross the NA-1110 road and go up to the Monastery of Irache. If we continue straight on
from this square, we will take a shortcut, which does not cross the road and saves us
about 300 metres.
Km 2,7 ‧ Monasterio de Irache
We continue in the same direction and, after 600 metres, we turn onto a track on the
right, going along the perimeter of a housing estate. We cross the NA-1110 road at the
height of the Irache hotel.
Km 4,1 ‧ Irache
We follow the main street of the urbanisation and at the exit we cross a road and continue
along a pleasant wooded path.
Km 7,3 ‧ Azqueta
We descend a short distance along a path to the right of the road and then begin a climb
in which we gain 100 metres in altitude in just 1.5 km. 300 metres before Villamayor de
Monjardín we walk by the original Fountain of the Moors, which dates back to the 13th
century and is Gothic in style.
Km 9,1 ‧ Villamayor de Monjardín
We leave the lower part of the village, taking a farm track. After a couple of kilometres we
cross the Carretera a Urbiola and continue close to the A-12 motorway, along comfortable
tracks between crops. Further on we move away from the dual carriageway and again,
after a couple of kilometres, we cross the Carretera a Olejua, moving further and further
away from the A-12 dual carriageway. Almost three kilometres further on we make two
left-right turns at right angles. Further on we enter Los Arcos along the Calle Mayor.
