This stage passes over innumerable bridges over the Arga, the Navarrese river par
excellence, which flows entirely through this territory. Its numerous tributaries will guide
us all the way to the capital of the region: Pamplona, the first city on the French Route,
bastion of the Basques and internationally renowned for the Sanfermines festival. It is
time to take a break after two intense days, enjoying the gentle slopes in one of the
shortest stages, just over twenty kilometres.
Recommendation Pilgrim
Easy and gentle stage. You should pay attention before getting to Zuriain because this part could be
a little bit dangerous, especially when it rains. If you are doing the way by bike you should know
that this is not a complicated stage for you.
There are other different ways of crossing Irotz, but the best one is the one that leads you straight
to Huarte. The one that crosses Arleta is easy but it has many slopes in which you should get off
the bike and walk.

We continue in the same direction and pass through the hamlet of Ezkirotz before

right.
Km 5,5 ‧ Larrasoaña
We leave Larrasoaña, crossing the bridge we came over again. With the Arga valley on
the right, we climb up to the small hamlet of Akerreta.
Km 6,1 ‧ Akerreta
This is one of the most beautiful stretches of the entire Pilgrims’ Route to Santiago de

We leave Zuriaín next to the N-135 national road, follow it for 600 metres until we take a
road on the left, and cross the river Arga again.
Km 11,3 ‧ Irotz
After 400 metres we cross the river Arga again and continue along the path parallel to the
national road. We reach some farmhouses that belong to the village of Zabaldika. Further
on, we pass by the Arleta farmhouse. After 300 metres you will find the turn-off to the
village of Huarte. We continue in the same direction, and shortly afterwards we descend
to Trinidad de Arre.
Km 16,0 ‧ Trinidad de Arre
We cross the medieval bridge over the river Ulzama and turn left. We cross Villava, the
birthplace of Miguel Indurain, now in an urban environment.
Km 17,5 ‧ Burlada
We continue straight on and almost at the end of the town we turn right into Calle
Larraínzar, continuing along the old Burlada road. We come to the Puente de la
