Continuing the trend of the previous day, we will keep on bordering the Cantabrian
coastline, on a rather flat journey that will take us a little inland as we get closer to
Colunga after crossing the river Libardón.

Itinerary
Km 0 ‧ Ribadesella
From the old town of Ribadesella, we seek the long bridge of the national road over the
river Sella, cross it and, after 150 metres, we take Avelina Cerra street to the right and all
the way to Santa Marina beach. At the end of the promenade, full of palaces and Indian
houses, we turn left at Ramón y Cajal street and take San Pedro road to the right. We
reach a roundabout with a fihisng boat in its centre and continue towards San Pedro de
Leces.
Still in the same direction, along an uphill local road, we continue straight. Across the
slope of a green valley we come out onto a track that we follow to the right, first uphill and
then downhill.
Km 6,9 ‧ Vega de Ribadesella
Upon leaving, we keep on the left-hand side towards Vega de Ribadesella, crossing first
the little hamlet of Piñeres, where we will pass by Santa María Magdalena chapel, very
close to the beach, next place we will be heading to. As we go down, we cross Acebo creek
and take a path to the left that will take us to mount Cueto bordering the slope. Before we
arrive at Berbes, we will have to open a fence and continue on tarmac along road N-632.
Km 9,5 ‧ Berbes
We cross road N-632 again to keep on alternating paved and dirt paths. We soon reach
Caravia, where we take a steep slope amongst eucalyptus that will gradually offer us a
magnificent view of the Cantabrian sea. The next beach we will come across is Beciella,
surrounded by Forada cliffs and which we can go down for a quick deep and to give our
feet some rest on the sand. Immediately after, it is Espasa beach, where the eponymous
river that we have to cross flows into the sea.
Km 14,7 ‧ La Espasa
At the border between Caravia and Colunga we join road N-632 again, which we will follow
for a few kilometres. We walk past La Isla and continue all the way to Colunga’s town
centre, perfect place for stopover.
