We face a bit of a monotonous stage, walking along the road or very close to it at all
times. We will cross the river Navia, one of the most important and widest rivers in the
Cantabrian coast and which has its source in Pedrafita do Cebreiro, entry point of the
French Way into Galicia, to finally reach the capital of El Franco municipality: La Caridad.
Recommendation Pilgrim
You should take the decision about which way you are going to follow before getting there
so you can plan better your entire way, there is just a difference of 4 kilometers in terms of
distance. Do not forget that once in Galicia, the scallop shell direction changes! Now you
need to follow the way pointed by that the most open side. This stage is easy for everyone.

Itinerary
Km 0 ‧ Luarca
We leave Luarca by La Peña street, crossing the river Negro and climbing up to the small
hamlet of Villuir, where we cross the national road and go deeper into country paths up to
Otur, some 3 kilometres away
Just like in the previous stage, we continue switching from the national road to path
parallel to it. We get close to the viaduct of highway A-8 over the river Barayo valley,
although we keep on the national road, not by the viaduct. We continue following the
yellow arrows, still on or very close to the road, passing through Villapedre and Piñera
neighbourhoods, already in Navia municipality
Km 12,5 ‧ Villapedre
Without possible loss, we carry on crossing the rail tracks, first by an underpass, then over
a bridge. Farther ahead, we cross a recently built wooden bridge over a creek and, so, we
keep advancing through Villaoril, La Colorada and Navia
Km 20,1 ‧ Navia
Already in the heart of the capital of the namesake municipality, we look for the river
Navia, cross it and keep going towards Jarrio taking the second uphill street. A Santiago
cross will encourage us to keep on walking, telling us we are on the right track.
Just as we leave Jarrio, we must continue straight along the road for the last few kilometres to
Cartavio, swithing at times to paths parallel to it that will allow us to forget about the
tarmac and the traffic for a while.
Km 26,6 ‧ Cartavio
We are barely 3,5 kilometres away from our final destination of the day: La Caridad,
capital of El Franco municipality, where we can finally relax and rest our sore feet on the
stony beach of Pormenande or in the recreational area next to the pilgrims hostel.
We will access La Caridad by Asturias avenue and Pelayo street up to María Cristina park
