This stage is considered the prettiest stage in this route, today you will get to Alto del Puerto where you will have the opportunity of seeing all the valley of the Nisón river and also the mountains of Lugo. Nevertheless you will have to walk through complicated slopes to get to the top.
You will leave Pola de Allande through its main street and getting to the AS-14 until get to El Mazo. A little bit after you will have to change the asphalted road for a path that gets to the Nisón river, where you will start a hard walking up. After crossing El Colobreu you will see a signal that indicates you where the hostel is, you will continue to La Regida, surrounded by centenarian trees and streams. This village is close to the La Regida’s burial mound. You will continue and you will have to cross another bridge; you will have to walk through the AS-14 for a while. Now you will be walking through a lovely place near the mountain.
After reaching the top and enjoy the wonderful view you will continue through a path to the right where you will meet the pilgrims that come from the Hospitales route. Hospitals used to be a kind of signal for pilgrims. They also used to put stakes to indicate the route for pilgrims, so they were able to get to the following shelter. After enjoying this wonderful village you will walk towards Texu de Lago, crossing before Sesto de la fuente and a little part of the AS-14. In this village you can stop and go to a bar or visit its church devoted to Santa María.
Before getting to the end of the stage you will have to go through Berducedo, a village that belongs to Allende, located 4 kilometres from Lago; it has some services and also some hostels. You will continue to La Mesa leaving Berducedo through a path that will take you also to Prima Madera, where you will have to turn left and get to a small forest before getting to the national road that will lead you to the village. After getting to La Mesa you can visit the Iglesia de Santa María de la Magdalena church that is surrounded by a wonderful landscape. It was built following the typical architecture in this area, so we can see that it has many typical things such as a slate roof. It is form the 17 century and it was built over a tumulus.
