From here, depending on your arrival time, you can visit different points of interest in the area, such as the Plaza de María Pita, the marina area, the beaches of Riazor and Orzán or the Tower of Hercules, symbol of the city and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In addition, you can enjoy the excellent gastronomy and the numerous museums of “the city where no one is a stranger”, which make a day in the city a short one.

Day 2: Stage A Coruña – Hospital de Bruma

34 km

You will wake up in your accommodation in A Coruña, where a good energetic breakfast is included to start the day with your batteries fully charged, and you will begin the hike to Bruma. This is an alternative route. Lots of pilgrims decide to start their way in this wonderful city. It is worth noting that this route does not reach the hundred kilometres required to obtain the “compostela” (pilgrim certificate), as it is only a little less than seventy-five kilometres from Santiago. Known as the Way of the Lighthouse, if you decide to undertake the journey from A Coruña you will meet the pilgrims of the traditional variant of the English Way from Ferrol in the town of Bruma, after passing through areas such as O Burgo or Sigrás, where you can visit the Church of Santiago.

Once in the town of Bruma, you can finally rest and if you feel up to it, you will have the chance to visit the San Lorenzo Chapel, built in the mid-16th century, so its predominant style is late Gothic.

Day 3: Stage Hospital de Bruma – Sigüeiro

(24 km/15 miles)

You will wake up in the Hospital de Bruma accommodation, which includes a good energetic breakfast to start the day with your batteries fully charged, and you will begin the hike to Sigüeiro. In this journey, you will mainly walk on a dirt and pavement road. That means you will have many facilities at your disposal and the easy of visiting two different churches: St Paio and St Xiao de Poulo. You are already very close to the finish line and that’s pretty obvious as the amount of pilgrims grows with every step.

If you reach Sigüeiro and it is not very late, you could visit the local medieval bridge over the Tambre River. It was mainly built in masonry between the 12th and 14th century. Now it is time to rest. This way, we will face the last and most emotional stage with stamina.

Day 4: Stage Sigüeiro – Santiago de Compostela

(16,7 km/10 miles)

You will wake up in the accommodation in Sigüeiro where a good energetic breakfast is included to start the day with your batteries fully charged and you will begin the walk to Santiago de Compostela, at last the destination is near and soon you will see for the first time the towers of the Cathedral and you will be able to embrace the Apostle. Today’s stage will be gentle. The only handicap will be the access to the town as we had to cross an industrial area. Very soon, we will walk the old streets of Santiago until we reach the Obradoiro Square.
