Route for Pilgrims

Day 1: Arrival at Sarria

You’ll walk to Sarria by your own, but if you wish we can arrange your transfer from the airport or any station you arrive. From this spot and depending on your arrival time you could visit many relevant sites. To name a few: Magdalena Monastery, The fortress Tower or St. Lazarus Chapel. In addition, the wide gastronomic offer in this area will guarantee you a delicious treat before starting The Way full of energy.

Day 2: Stage Sarria – Portomarin

(22,75 km/14 miles)

After sleeping in your Sarria’s accommodation, you will start the day with bells on to start your walking towards Portomarin. It is pretty important to make regular stops.The Santiago de Barbadelo Church could be one of those stops. It is ornamented with scallop shells. Another option could be stopping at Nosa Señora dos Remedios Sanctuary

After crossing beautiful landscapes and villages such as Ferreiros, you will arrive at Portomarin, where you can visit some relevant points such as the Escalinata or Das Neves Chapel, just at the entrance of the village, or even the San Nicolás Church (or also known as San Juan Church).

Day 3: Portomarin – Palas de Rei

(25 km/ 15 miles)

This time, you’ll wake up at your Portomarin’s accommodation to start the trip with bells on towards Palas de Rei One of your regular stops must be Castro de Castromaior, just few a steps aside from the route, St Maria de Castromaior Church o Vilar de Donas Church, considered a site of Cultural Interest since 1931.

After arriving Palas de Rei you could visit some local interesting spots and enjoy emblematic places such as the outstanding Pambre Castle just a few minutes from the Way .

Day 4: Palas de Rei – Arzúa

(29 km/18 miles)

You’ll be raring to begin the walking towards Arzúa, after waking up at your accommodation in Palas de Rei Following this route, you will cross Melide, where you should visit St Roque’s Chapel, patron of the town, or the popular Saint Mary of Melide Church, considered a National Monument. Besides, you can enjoy a portion of octopus, (called pulpo a feira in the local language) After going through some emblematic places, such as the village of Boente or the Bridge of Ribadiso, you will finally reach the village of Arzúa.

Day 5: Arzua – O Pedrouzo

(19,1 km/12 miles)

One more time you’ll wake up in a local accommodation and will start the walk toward O Pedrouzo with bells on. On this stage you can visit places such as St Peter’s of Lema Church, Pontedapedra’s Mill, and the Saint Irene’s Fountain, also known by pilgrims as The Fountain of Youth.

You will arrive in O Pedrouzo, where you can visit relevant spots as The St Eulalia de Arca Church or take a look to the beautiful landscape of River Noa Fervenza

Day 6: O Pedrouzo – Santiago de Compostela

(22,75 km/14 miles)

After waking up in your O Pedrouzo lodging we can start our walking with stamina. This time our destiny is Santiago de Compostela and very soon you’ll make out the towers of the Cathedral. After walking thought the monumental streets you’ll reach The Obradoiro Square feeling that you have met the target.

Day 7: Santiago de Compostela

Bed and Breakfast Free day to visit all those monuments that, besides the Cathedral, make up this impressive city.

After breakfast our services will be finished.
