About this stage
A route with a rural landscape and surroundings of green meadows and forests, typical of northern Spain. This stage includes the Santiago Bridge, also known as the International Bridge, as it joins France with Spain, crossing the Bidasoa River. As a curiosity, it is worth mentioning that for a short stretch of the route it coincides with the Northern Way . Furthermore, in Astigarraga, the Santiagomendi hermitage is located on the top of a hill, defying the elements of nature. The stage ends in the town of Hernani, classified as a Cultural Asset for its old quarter.
Recommendation Pilgrim
This is an easy stage for cyclists and not very demanding for people with disabilities. It has some slopes but nothing that cannot be overcome.

Itinerary
Km 0 ‧ Irún
Once in Irún it is advisable to cross the bridge of Santiago, which offers a connection between French and Spanish lands. Once back in Spain, we take a path next to the river, crossing under the N-I until we reach the district of Santiago. We head towards the church of Nuestra Señora del Juncal, once we get there we pass it and continue along the Avenida de Navarra until we reach the Plaza de San Juan Arria. Once at the Town Hall, turn right onto Calle Mayor, then left onto Calle Artaleku and once on Avenida Elizatxo, continue straight on until you see the Martindozenea hostel, then turn left onto Calle Belitz, where you leave the town by crossing over the A-8.

From the side of the A-8, we continue towards the Lizardi farmhouse and from there, we continue until we reach the GI-3452, with a short stretch on the right hand side, leaving this place to continue on to Txirripa and pass it in the direction of Gurutze. Once in this town, we continue along the GI-2134, leaving it in a few metres along a path towards Mount Urkabe and descending towards Oyarzún. Here we can visit the church of San Esteban or continue towards the exit of the village and pass the Arditurri road. We then cross the Oyarzún river in the direction of the Iturriotz district, which we will pass, and further on, we will take a path to the right.
We cross the Arbide stream and climb up to the hermitage of Santa Engrazia, and then descend to the Zarra country house, from where we continue to Isturitz and then to Etxe-Txiki, to finally reach the hermitage of Santiagomendi.
Km 24,9 ‧ Hernani
We can choose whether to sleep here or continue, but the route continues towards Astigarraga and, after reaching the road, we take a path on the left to go to the district of Ergobia. Once past this town we cross under the A-15, pass two industrial estates until we reach the Urumea River and cross it to finally finish the stage on arrival in Hernani.
