You will continue this stage through yesterday’s Roman road. You will stop at Ansião that is
famous due to Santiago da Guarda. Step by step you will be closer to Rabaçal where you will
see the remains of a castle called Germanelo.

You can stop in Ansião and divide the stage into two. Here you will find all kind of
establishments and services. This is an easy stage for everyone.

Km 0 – Inicio
You will leave Avaiázere next to its church and going to the right through D. Sancho I
street. You will continue through the same medieval road as yesterday to get to Laranjais,
Vendas and Venda do Negro. You are now in Ariques mountain pass that is famous due to its
biodiversity; it has centenarian oak trees, rose bushes, olive trees and lots of animals
such as wild boars, foxes and bats. The following places that you will cross will be
Gramatinha, Casal Maduros, Casal do Soeiro and Ansião.
This last village belongs to Leiria that is famous due to Solar dos Condes de Castelo
Melhor that was declared national heritage and that belongs to Câmara municipal (a
municipal governing body). It is the one and only Manueline monument in the region and it
is from the 15 century. You will get to this village through Dr. Adriano Rego street where
is located another interesting point: Pelourinho de Ansião a pillory from the 17 century
that was built devoted to D. Luís de Menenses third Count of Ericeira due to its military
and political career.
After visiting Ansião you will walk to Ponte da Cal that is from the 17 century and that
used to be part of the road that linked Coimbra and Lisbon. You will also see two swimming
pools where Elizabeth of Portugal used to swim when she stay in Portugal. A little bit
after you will cross Fonte Santa where according to the legend Virgin Mary appeared in the
17 century. From Nesbos you will continue to the left through a path to Venda do Brasil
and Casais da Granja.
Then you will get to Alvorge, you will cross this village through Miguel David Namora
street where the Igreja da Misericordia is located. Once you cross this church you will
have to turn right into a path that will lead you to Quinta da Ladeia, and walking the
last kilomet6res through rural paths next to the n348. At the entrance of the village you
will see the remains of a castle called Germanelo built by D. Afonso Henriques.
