From Porto we can continue on to São Miguel de Arcos, just over thirty kilometres away, or
split the stage in two and spend the night at an intermediate point such as Maia, just
thirteen kilometres from Porto.
Pilgrim Recommendation
We recommend you not to try walking more kilometers than you really can. Usually, there are
intermediate stops where you can spend the night and split the stage in two. We walk by your side!
If you have any doubt about this stage or about other stages, please contact us, we will help you.
Have a nice Way, pilgrim!

Itinerary
Km 0 ‧ Oporto
The reference point for leaving Porto is the Plaza Carlos Alberto, where the monument to
the fallen of World War I is located. From there we take the pedestrianised Rua de
Cedofeita, heading north. We arrive at the Chapel of Ramada Alta. Behind the chapel we
take rua 9 de Julho; without leaving it we cross a pedestrian passage under a block of
flats, come out onto rua da Constituição, cross it, pass under another block of flats and
turn left. Shortly after we pass in front of the church of Carvalhido and follow the street of
the same name in the same direction. Cross under the A20 motorway (Porto ring road).
We continue straight on along the Montes dos Burgos road. We walk under the A4
motorway and continue straight on. Shortly after, we enter Araújo by crossing the railway
track above.
In the square 100 metres from the church there is a fork with arrows in two directions
where we will go straight ahead. Beyond the Porto Metro tracks we enter Custió. We then
leave the road on the right hand side to take a street that takes us down to the Ponte de
Moreira, over the river Leça. After this, we cross the A41 motorway over an overpass,
turn right onto the airport avenue until we reach a large roundabout and, in the same
direction, continue another 400 metres along the N13. We arrive at Moreira de Maia.
Km 13,0 ‧ Moreira da Maia
We turn right onto Rua Mestre Clara. Turn right onto rua Manuel Baptista Barrios. We
immediately follow the rua Engenheiro Frederico Ulrich to the left and shortly after, to the
left, the rua-carretera do Outeiro. We are in the middle of the industrial estate of Maia.
Outeiro is the first village at the exit of the industrial estate. We continue in the same
direction, along a narrow street-road with continuous population centres until we reach
Mosteiró.
Km 17,6 ‧ Mosteiró
Further on we see the church of Vilar on the right hand side, at the end of a wide street
with two roads separated by trees. We come out onto the national road N306: narrow and
with hardly any hard shoulder. We continue on until we reach Giao.
Km 21,9 ‧ Gião
We turn right into rua da Igreja. Shortly after, we pass the church of Gião on our right and
continue along the quiet streets, which are slightly uphill. We cross the village of Tresval.
We arrive at the crossroads of Vairão.
Km 23,9 ‧ Vairão
We continue along the cobbled streets. We turn left at the São João chapel. Before
arriving at Vilarinho we follow a short stretch of dirt road through a wooded area. At the
entrance to the village we turn right and, when we come out onto the road, we follow it to
the left.
Km 26,5 ‧ Vilarinho
We leave Vilarinho along the rua da Ponte de Ave, which is none other than the national
road N-306. A little more than 1 km further on, turn right onto the road that leads down to
the beautiful Zameiro bridge over the River Ave. We soon come out again onto the N-306,
which we follow for a few metres before leaving it on the left. Further on, we return to the
same national road, to leave it again by a paved road on the right. We arrive at São
Mamede.
Km 31,4 ‧ São Mamede
We continue along a street in the same direction. We cross the A7 motorway at a subway.
We will see in front of us the church of Arcos. We cross the Ponte de São Miguel de
Arcos, a beautiful medieval bridge over the river Este.
