If you get to Rabaçal yesterday you just have to walk 18 kilometers to Cernache and just
another 13 kilometers to get to the end of today’s stage: Coimbra. To get to these two
cities you have to cross another village such as Conímbriga a Roman city; there is lots of
research concerning to this city. Finally, you will get to Coimbra that was declared World
Heritage Site. This city is full of lovely churches, quintas and parks.

If you want you can conclude in Condeixa Velha or Codeixa a Nova to stay the night if you
don’t want to get to Coímbra that is located 10 kilometers from these two villages. This
is an easy stage for everyone.

Km 0 – Inicio
If you start in Rabaçal you will have to walk to the N-348 to Zanbujal turning right and
walk through small paths to get to the Roman road. After three kilometers and a half you
will get to Zambujal that belongs to Condeixa a Nova. A little bit after you will get to a
valley and you will have to cross a bridge to get again to the N-348, now walking to Fonte
Coberta. Then you will walk surrounded by olive trees and also the typical landscape to
get to Poço. Then you will have to walk up a little bit following the Mouros river that
will lead you to Conímbriga a Roman city that is located on the military road that used to
Lisbon and Braga. It is the Roman city most researched in Portugal. They have discovered
many monuments and also other remains. In Condeixa a Vlha you could visit a museum where
you can see how Romans used to live in this old city.
There are 6 kilometres left to get to Cernache, but first you will have to cross Atadoa,
Avessada, Orelhudo and Casconcha. Then you will have to cross a bridge over the IC2 and
continue to Largo da Praça next to the local church. Then you will leave the village
through the Rua 1º de Maio street to Pousada through the Roman road. You will cross
Outeiro Negro, Palheira and Cruz de Morouços. You will get to Rua do Comareiro street
after crossing a bridge over the IC2. After crossing this street you will turn right to
Largo da Capela and descend through O Bordalo.
Once you get there you will have to walk to Mesura, through its main road and walking to
Largo Almas de Freiro and then to Alto de Santa Clara. Once you get there you will have to
descend to get to a convent with the same name and then get to Mondego bridge. You will
cross the Convento de São Francisco convent that currently houses a congress center.
Finally, you will get to the old city through Largo da Portagem and through Rua Adro de
Cima where the Igreja de São Bartolomeu is located. Then you will have to cross Praça
Velha ou do Com´recio, the old Hospital Real hospital and the Igreja de Santiago from the
13 century, the end of today’s stage.
