This stage has a low density of pilgrims and allows for a countinuous pilgrimage with few
ups and downs. Along this path we will find few areas to shelter from the sun, so if you do
it in a hot period, it is highly recommendable to always carry a full water bottle and take
advantage of the few areas that offer shelter from the sun’s rays. We recommend avoiding the
hottest times of the day.
Recommendation Pilgrim
Along this stage, there are few places that offer adequate services for pilgrims, so you
should take advantage of the areas that do offer these services, in order to avoid
arriving to Ruesta a little short on supplies.
Route
Itinerary
Km 0 ‧ Jaca
Following the arrows along the paths, and passing along long stretches of cereal crops, we
arrive to the village of Berdún. We don’t enter the village, but instead, keep it on your
right, on the other side of the river as a point of reference. We follow the road from
Berdún to Martes.
Following along the road, we find a shortcut that will take us to an agricultural trail,
that further on, connects with another path that leads to a dual carriageway. We follow
the path, crossing the border between the provinces of Huesca and Zaragoza, and after a
rather difficult section, we exit onto the dual carriageway to Mianos. We reach this town,
but quickly abandon it further ahead, along a path that skirts some mounds with stones.
With some slight ups and downs, we continue along the dual carriageway from Mianos to
Artieda, reaching a crossroads. Once here, we can decide whether to visit Artieda, or
continue on. If we do the visit, we can take up the journey again following the dual
carriageway that passes alongside the village, leaving the village on the left until
reaching a farm. We should continue along the left until reaching the A-1601, until we see
the signpost for 6 km.
Km 28,4 ‧ Ruesta
We climb a path that is on the left, thus avoiding the dual carriageway, although later
on, we should cross it again in order to reach a forest path, with the Yesa reservoir on
our left. A short time later, we return to the dual carriageway in order to reach Ruesta.
