This is the most beautiful stage in the Fisterra Way. You will walk through lovely meadows
full of oak trees, beech trees and chestnut trees that will make this stage very easy and
enjoyable. You will also see lots of centenarian stone crosses and raised granaries that
will be the best indication. Today you will be accompanied by the Xallas river.

It is a long stage and you be very careful when it comes to cross the national road. It is
not a complicated stage.

Km 0 – Inicio
You will leave Negreira going through the old camino real road and also through the Calle
San Mauro street, you will soon get to the Pazo de Cotón country house going through its
huge arch. Once you get to the tiver Barcala you will have to cross it and continue
through the fluvial path to get to a crossing with a road that goes to Negreira. Once you
get to this village you will have to leave this village at the right and walk to the
Iglesia de San Xián and it stone cross from the 18 century. You will continue walking
among small houses and then you will see a marker that will indicate you that you have to
enter into an oak wood to get to Alto de la Cruz. Once you are walking up you will have to
walk again through the asphalt and continue to San Mamede de Zas where you will continue
combining through 5 kilometers paths with asphalted roads. You are now close to a village
called Camiño Real, its name is linked with St. James and a road that gets to Fisterra.
You will walk through forests and meadows and you will continue until get to a valley
called A Barcala, crossing first Rapote and A Pena. Once you get to the village you will
cross the Iglesia de San Mamede church and then you will get to the center of the village
in Piaxe. After this small village you will get to a part of the route that is full of
vegetation and that will be very relaxing before getting again to an asphalted road in
Portocamiño to get to Cornovo. After leaving this last village you will get again to a
rural landscape just after getting to the crossing of Gorgal and Xallas and also crossing
a small river called Forxán. Then you will walk through an asphalted road to get ot
Vilaserío, where you will find two hostels. You are not in Negreira yet but you are really
close, in Mazaricos, in Cornado. Now there are some small walking ups first of all through
paths and then you will get to the DP-5604, then you will have to turn left after half a
kilometer. You will cross many crossings but all of them are well indicated so you won’t
have any problem to get to the Maroñas river going through forest paths. You will have to
cross this river and you will get to As Mariñas a small village that has some
establishments. You will continue and then you will get to a rest area and then you will
have to cross the road very carefully and continue through the left side to get o to
Muros. Through this road you will get to Antelo’s hostel and also to a bar where you could
rest for a while before walking the last part of the stage.
Now you will walk through the Monte Aro mount, through its tight side and seeing the
Embalse da Fervenza reservoir located in Xallas. Now you will walk through the Monte Aro

stage, you will have to cross a bridge that leads you to Olveiroa and then you will see
the hostel and a restaurant.
