This time,\n    <strong>it is time to talk about the Catalan Way.<\/strong>\n  <\/p>\n  <h5>\n    You may also be interested in:\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/en\/the-camino-olvidado\/\">The Forgotten Way<\/a>\n  <\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<hr class=\"single-bar\" \/>\n<ul class=\"index\">\n  <span class=\"\">Index<\/span>\n  <li><a href=\"#stages\">Stages<\/a><\/li>\n  <li><a href=\"#map\">Map<\/a><\/li>\n  <li><a href=\"#tips\">Characteristics<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"single-bar\" \/>\n<div class=\"section-post\" id=\"info\">\n  <h2>Information on the Catalan Way<\/h2>\n  <p>\n    Since the discovery of the\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/en\/plan-your-way\/the-way-st-james\/\"\n      >tomb of the Apostle St. James<\/a\n    >, several pilgrimages began to be made to pay homage to him, not only in\n    the Iberian Peninsula, but this event led to\n    <strong>numerous pilgrimages from Europe<\/strong> that continue to this day.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    The point through which most pilgrims entered Spain was through the\n    Pyrenees. However, <strong>there is no single route to enter<\/strong>, in\n    fact, there are up to three possibilities:\n  <\/p>\n  <ul>\n    <li>\n      <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/en\/french-way\/\">French Route<\/a>: The first stage of the French\n      Way, which separates the towns of Sain Jean Pied de Port and Roncesvalles,\n      crosses the Pyrenees along this world-renowned route.\n    <\/li>\n    <li>\n      <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/en\/camino-aragones\/\">Aragonese Way<\/a>: On this route you can\n      enter Spanish territory, through the border town of Somport, located in\n      the Pyrenees.\n      <strong>The route is secondary to the main routes<\/strong> and ends up\n      joining the French Way in the town of Puente la Reina.\n    <\/li>\n    <li>\n      <strong>Catalan Way<\/strong>: The route we are discussing in this article\n      enters the Pyrenees\n      <strong>through the town of San Pere de Rodes<\/strong> and requires a\n      greater number of kilometres until it joins a main route.\n    <\/li>\n  <\/ul>\n  <p>\n    The Catalan Way takes on\n    <strong>a certain prominence as an entry into the peninsula<\/strong> for\n    being the first available to pilgrims who have made their journey through\n    the coast of southern France, many decide to continue inland to enter\n    directly by the French Way but others go directly through the Catalan town.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    In its initial route it follows the original\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/en\/via-augusta\/\">Via Augusta<\/a> which, although it has been\n    replaced by numerous main Spanish roads, was\n    <strong>one of the largest roads in Spain<\/strong>, linking the Pyrenees\n    with the south of Spain,  Ebro<\/strong\n    >, which begins on the Mediterranean coast and continues inland until it\n    joins the French Route in the town of Logro\u00f1o, in its stage number 8.\n  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div   Over the last few years, the route has undergone\n    <strong\n      >a great improvement in terms of infrastructure and signposting<\/strong\n    >\n    thanks to the work of the\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/planificar\/asociaciones-de-amigos-del-camino-de-santiago\/\"\n      >associations of friends of the Camino in the area,<\/a\n    >although it still needs to improve to reach the signposting of the main\n    routes, especially the routes that are in Galicia.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    It crosses the entire Catalan community from north to south, so you can\n    <strong>get to know in depth the roots<\/strong> of one of the most historic\n    territories of the peninsula, as well as a Mediterranean gastronomy worthy\n    of your palate.\n
