What do\n    we mean? In the early hours of the day it is not advisable to eat a large\n    amount of food, as just after that you are going to start a new stage of the\n    road, although neither is the option of drinking a coffee and &#8220;come on to\n    walk&#8221;.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    Breakfast should contain the necessary amount of food to give you the energy\n    you need to face the routes of the Camino. For this we recommend a\n    <strong>balanced breakfast<\/strong> as follows:\n  <\/p>\n  <ul>\n    <li>\n      Just the <strong>right amount of carbohydrates<\/strong> (bread, toast,\n      cereals, etc.).\n    <\/li>\n    <li>\n      <strong>Plenty of protein<\/strong> (turkey slices, ham, yoghurt, cheese,\n      etc.)\n    <\/li>\n    <li>\n      <strong>Natural sugars<\/strong> (fruit, either as a piece or in juice)\n    <\/li>\n    <li><strong>Foods with healthy fats<\/strong> (nuts, olive oil, etc.)<\/li>\n  <\/ul>\n  <p>\n    Some <strong>examples<\/strong> of quick and balanced breakfasts include:\n  <\/p>\n  <ul>\n    <li>\n      <em\n        >A handful of nuts, two or three slices of bread and a couple of slices\n        of turkey.<\/em\n      >\n    <\/li>\n    <li>\n      <em\n        >A glass of orange juice, a tub of cheese with yoghurt and a cereal\n        bar.<\/em\n      >\n    <\/li>\n    <li><em>Toast with jam, coffee and biscuits.<\/em><\/li>\n  <\/ul>\n  <p>\n    These are just some examples of possible pilgrim breakfasts, what is\n    considered <strong>essential is to eat before facing<\/strong> the\n    preconceived kilometres for each of the days that will last the Camino de\n    Santiago.\n  <\/p>\n  <h3 id=\"Planificar-Comidas\">\n    PLAN THE FOOD NEEDED TO COPE WITH THE DAILY STAGE\n  <\/h3>\n  <p>\n    A further question that arises when dealing with the different stages is:\n  <\/p>\n  <blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n    <p>How many meals do I prepare for the day?<\/p>\n  <\/blockquote>\n  <p>\n    Our advice is that before you get your legs moving you need to get your mind\n    working, i.e. before you start walking,<strong\n      >plan your route for the day thoroughly<\/strong\n    >\n    , so that you know which sections are the most demanding and when it is most\n    important to eat.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    Ideally, during a day&#8217;s walk along the Camino de Santiago you should eat\n    <strong>5 meals<\/strong>, there will be days when you can and need to, and\n    days when you can&#8217;t or you don&#8217;t have the necessary appetite.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    Based on this, we will prepare the necessary food and load it into the\n    backpacks that we will carry during the stage.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    In addition, an unforeseen eventuality may arise and that is that you do not\n    have the necessary food, but this is not a problem, as on all the routes\n    <strong>you will find locations where you can stock up<\/strong>, simply plan\n    your route around a place where you can fill your backpack and get ready to\n    walk.\n  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"section-post\" id=\"Durante\">\n  <h2>HOW TO FEED YOURSELF DURING THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO<\/h2>\n  <p>\n    Previously we talked about the foods needed for a good breakfast, but for\n    the rest of the day, will we eat the same, or will we change something?\n  <\/p>\n  <h3 id=\"Que-Comer-Durante\">WHAT TO EAT DURING THE JOURNEY?<\/h3>\n  <p>\n    We must bear in mind that a day&#8217;s walk is a\n    <strong>demanding experience<\/strong> for any pilgrim, although it will\n    always depend on how hard it is for us.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    We should also bear in mind that backpacks will put extra weight on our\n    bodies, so it is advisable <strong>not to carry too much food<\/strong> or\n    heavy food, you should plan how to carry food that provides the necessary\n    nutrients in smaller formats.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    This can be a headache, but here are <strong>a few tips<\/strong> to make it\n    easier and more comfortable to eat while walking:\n  <\/p>\n  <ul>\n    <li>\n      <strong>Nuts<\/strong>: Food that in small proportions provides a large\n      amount of nutrients.\n    <\/li>\n    <li>\n      <strong>Energy bars<\/strong>: You will need to know the difference between\n      good bars and cereal bars that are high in quick-release sugars.\n    <\/li>\n    <li>\n      <strong>Chocolate<\/strong>: It provides just the right amount of sugars to\n      boost our energy.\n    <\/li>\n    <li>\n      <strong>Sandwiches<\/strong>: A simple and light way of providing a large\n      part of what our body needs when walking.\n    <\/li>\n  <\/ul>\n  <p>\n    We must not forget that along the route we will find different places to\n    eat: restaurants, bars, hostels, etc. We will talk in detail about the best\n    places to eat later on.\n  <\/p>\n  <h3 id=\"Hidratacion\">IN REGARDS TO HYDRATION\u2026<\/h3>\n  <p>\n    It is one of the most important things you should do during a stage on the\n    Camino de Santiago, especially on the hottest days.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    It is advisable to <strong>drink short sips of water<\/strong>, leaving an\n    hour between sips.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    There is a general misconception of waiting to be thirsty to drink or not\n    hydrate well while exercising, during a stage on the pilgrimage route\n    pilgrims make many kilometres, so you should make\n    <strong>a process of abundant hydration<\/strong>, which is essential during\n    the Camino.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    You will need to be aware of every fountain or place with access to water so\n    that you always have a full water bottle.\n  <\/p>\n  <h3 id=\"Establecimientos\">IN WHAT TYPE OF PLACES SHOULD WE EAT?<\/h3>\n  <p>\n    A route along the Camino de Santiago can take you to many different places,\n    where you will find a multitude of different places to eat.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    Our advice is to always look for\n    <strong>a place that offers the necessary food<\/strong> to be able to resume\n    the pilgrimage with your batteries recharged.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    There is always the exception of one day eating\n    <em>&#8220;something different&#8221;<\/em>, as in the areas along the Camino de\n    Santiago, especially on its <strong>arrival in Galicia<\/strong>, there are\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/platos-tipicos-camino-de-santiago-galicia\/\"\n      >many typical dishes<\/a\n    >\n    that we are sure you will want to enjoy.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    In addition, you will also find supermarkets where\n    <strong>you can restock<\/strong> and buy food on the go, so you can control\n    your food intake much better.\n  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"section-post\" id=\"Consejos-Recuperacion\">\n  <h2>TIPS FOR PROPER PHYSICAL RECOVERY AFTER A DAY&#8217;S PILGRIMAGE<\/h2>\n  <p>\n    At the end of the stage, we settle into our accommodation (hostel, hotel,\n    etc.) and get ready to have dinner and sleep to recover.\n  <\/p>\n  <h3 id=\"Cantidad-Cena\">AMOUNT OF FOOD FOR DINNER<\/h3>\n  <p>\n    For dinner we recommend a <strong>substantial meal<\/strong>, as you need to\n    recover from the hike, <strong>but not too much<\/strong>, as a full stomach\n    will not allow you to get a good night&#8217;s sleep to recharge your batteries.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    Our recommendation is that these foods contain a\n    <strong>good amount of protein<\/strong>, and if there can be some pasta or\n    vegetables, better, i.e. foods that are\n    <strong>digested more quickly<\/strong> and do not cause heaviness, which\n    will allow us to get a good night&#8217;s sleep to face another magical day on the\n    Pilgrims&#8217; Route to Santiago de Compostela.\n  <\/p>\n  <p>\n    We hope that these tips will help you to face the long-awaited achievement\n    of reaching\n    <a
