SANTIAGO IN WINTER<\/h2>\n\n    <h3>PROS<\/h3>\n\n    <ul>\n      <li>\n        Your pilgrimage will be more <strong>intimate<\/strong> and\n        <strong>personal<\/strong>, due to the fact that the Camino is not so\n        crowded at this time of year.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        The stars of your pilgrimage will be the solitude, the\n        <strong>silence<\/strong>, the <strong>peace<\/strong> and the\n        authenticity of the villages.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        You will have time for <strong>greater reflection<\/strong> without\n        anything disrupting your steps.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        You can forget about time-tables, as you\n        <strong>won&#8217;t have to wake up early<\/strong> to ensure your place in a\n        public hostel, and you won&#8217;t have to worry about finding anywhere to eat\n        etc. either.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        You can start <strong>walking at mid-morning<\/strong>, so that the cold\n        isn&#8217;t so harsh.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        You will see a lot <strong> fewer pilgrims<\/strong> due to the fact that\n        they are concentrated in the more crowded months, from April to the end\n        of September.\n      <\/li>\n    <\/ul>\n\n    <h3>CONS<\/h3>\n\n    <ul>\n      <li>\n        The degree of difficulty is directly proportional to\n        <strong>how harsh the climate conditions<\/strong> are.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        Your planning must be <strong>more thorough<\/strong>, as many\n        establishments will be closed in the winter months.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        You should always <strong>bear the climate in mind<\/strong>, as a normal\n        section with snow can become very dangerous.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        You will have <strong> more downtime<\/strong>, as because of the\n        cold\/rain, you will not be able to see the trails so well and you will\n        have to take shelter in a local bar or read a good book about the\n        Camino.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        In winter there is a <strong>higher percentage of accidents<\/strong>,\n        mainly at the beginning of the\n        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/en\/french-way\/\">Camino Franc\u00e9s<\/a>, due to the adverse weather\n        conditions, which is why from the 1 of November to the 31 of March the\n        first stage is changed to Luzaide-Valcarzos.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        You should be extra careful, as there are\n        <strong>fewer hours of daylight<\/strong> and you could get lost.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        Your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/preparacion-fisica-camino-santiago\/\">physical preparation<\/a> should be\n        <strong>better<\/strong>, as it is not the same to go up a middy or icy\n        mountain as it is to go up a dry mountain in favourable conditions.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/que-llevo-en-la-mochila-para-hacer-el-camino-de-santiago\/#Mochila\">The backpack<\/a>\n        <strong>should be bigger<\/strong> (50L is recommended) due to the heavy\n        clothes that will be needed.\n      <\/li>\n    <\/ul>\n\n    <h3>EXTRA:<\/h3>\n\n    <p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/que-llevo-en-la-mochila-para-hacer-el-camino-de-santiago\/\">What should I pack?<\/a><\/p>\n\n    <ul>\n      <li>\n        <strong>Boots<\/strong>: Knee-high and waterproof, along with a pair of\n        trainers.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        <strong>Gloves<\/strong>: Similar to those for skiing, along with a hat\n        and scarf\/neck gaiter.\n      <\/li>\n      <li><strong>T-shirts<\/strong>: Long-sleeved and thermal.<\/li>\n      <li>\n        <strong>Trousers<\/strong>: Detachable and waterproof, like your jacket,\n        with thermal leggings beneath.\n      <\/li>\n      <li>\n        <strong>Windbreaker<\/strong>: Protect you and your backpack from the\n        rain\n      <\/li>\n      <li><strong>Sleeping bag<\/strong><\/li>\n      <li>\n        <strong>High-vis<\/strong> <strong>clothing<\/strong>: For rainy days or\n        bad weather and a spare battery for your mobile in case you get lost.\n      <\/li>\n    <\/ul>\n  <\/div>\n  <div\n    id=\"the-best-route-to-do-the-camino-de-santiago-in-winter\"\n    class=\"section-post\"\n  >\n    <h2>THE BEST ROUTE TO DO THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO IN WINTER<\/h2>\n\n    <p>\n      Due to the off-peak season, many accommodation options close for their\n      holidays or because of a lack of demand among clients. Because of this,\n      the most complicated aspect of this season, is finding somewhere to sleep.\n    <\/p>\n\n    <p>\n      There are routes that have hardly any services in winter.
