At present it has undergone a small comeback with the recent popularity of the French Way.<\/p> <p>In ancient times the village was a stop for the vast majority of pilgrims, since after climbing the mountain they needed to regain strength, and there was a monastery that functioned as a hospital for pilgrims which was also abandoned.<\/p> &lt;p\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div id=\"locationSection\">\n\t\t\t<div>\n\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"p-h2-town\">Location<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t<hr>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"p-h3-town\">How to get there<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<p>The best way to get to Foncebad\u00f3n is to go to Ponferrada and once there take the road LE-142 towards Foncedad\u00f3n. It is also possible to get there quickly from Astorga, since you only have to take the same national road (LE-142).\n\n<p>From Ponferrada and Astorga there are daily bus lines that connect both cities
