Faced with the impossibility of placing the central pillar, the engineers in charge of this work, decided to dig into the river bank to give it more depth. Legend has it that at that moment they found the remains of Santa Quiteria, protector against rabies. From that moment on, it became popular the belief that the animals that surrounded the pillar were healed of this disease. That is why a multitude of neighbors from neighboring towns came daily to see it with their own eyes, acquiring great importance in the seventeenth century. <\/p> <p>\n\n<p>Today, this pillar with supposed healing properties has the appearance of two semicircular eyes and polygonal cutwaters. The route begins at a clearly marked crossroads where you have to continue on the left, bordering the mountain through an oak grove. Later we will reach a greener area, a place from where we glimpse the Puerto de Egozkue. <\/p>\n\n<p>Continuing along the path, before embarking on this steep slope we pass through a gate and then next to a watering place. Now it is time to ascend to the top of the pointed summit of Bartxueta, previously encountering several crossroads, but all of them with adequate signage of the Local Trail.
