P\u00f3voa de Varzim, where we will see why it is so popular due to\n        its beaches and typical dishes. Before arriving to this location we will cross among\n        different places such as Castro de Sampaio, a place that holds the ruins of an old village\n        from the Iron Age. Also, the Bird Sanctuary of Mindelo or even the church of Santa Mar\u00eda de\n        Azurara, original of the 16th Century and close to the Ave river.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <p>\n        On our way towards the end of the stage we will cross Vila do Conde, a city with a great\n        cultural heritage represented by its aqueduct, its main church and San Juan fortress.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <p>\n        Once at P\u00f3voa de Varzim we will see the beauty of this town: we will need to take a tour to\n        appreciate all its monuments and heritage.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <div class=\"recomendation-card\">\n        <div>\n          <i class=\"icon-logo-pilgrim\"><\/i>\n          <h5>Recommendation Pilgrim<\/h5>\n        <\/div>\n\n        <p>\n          This stage will take place mainly through wooden walkways next to the sea, so every now\n          and then you may feel like walking on the sand or even, if the weather is nice, to have a\n          bath in the Portuguese coast.\n        <\/p>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div id=\"profileSection\">\n      <div>\n        <h2 class=\"p-h2-stage\">Distance and elevation<\/h2>\n        <hr class=\"orange-bar\" \/>\n        <h3 class=\"p-h3-stage\">Stage profile<\/h3>\n        <img decoding=\"async\"\n          loading=\"lazy\"\n          src=\"https:\/\/cdn.pilgrim.es\/web\/caminos\/camino-portugues-costa\/etapas\/etapa-2\/etapa2-perfil-labruge-povoa-de-barzim.jpg\"\n          alt=\"Stage profile stage-2-labruge-povoa-varzim\"\n        \/>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div id=\"itinerarySection\">\n      <h2 class=\"p-h2-stage\">Route<\/h2>\n      <hr \/>\n      <h3 class=\"p-h3-stage\">Itinerary<\/h3>\n\n      <div>\n        <h4>Km 0.0 &#8231; Labruge<\/h4>\n        <p>\n          We will have to return to the beach to resume the path. The path continues along wooden\n          walkways between beaches, rocky hills and dune areas, in a very beautiful landscape. One\n          of the first beaches is Sampaio, where an Iron Age settlement was discovered. We soon\n          reach the multicoloured fishermen&#8217;s houses of Vila Ch\u00e3; in a square next to the beach we\n          see an original glazed chapel with an image of the Senhora da Guia inside.\n        <\/p>\n      <\/div>\n      <hr \/>\n      <div>\n        <h4>Km 3.4 &#8231; Vila Ch\u00e3<\/h4>\n        <p>\n          We cross the town, which has a couple of caf\u00e9s, restaurants and some shops. Then, along\n          Marginal Avenue, we enter the Lou\u00e7\u00e1 neighbourhood.\n        <\/p>\n      <\/div>\n      <hr \/>\n      <div>\n        <h4>Km 4.5 &#8231; Lou\u00e7\u00e1-Mindelo<\/h4>\n        <p>\n          We alternate between various neighbourhoods of houses and flat blocks with sections of\n          footbridges. This brings us to Mindelo beach, where the walkways lead us behind the dunes.\n          We continue straight ahead, bordering the Mindelo Ornithological Reserve. After the flat\n          blocks on \u00c1rvore beach, with the view of Vila do Conde in the background, we return to the\n          walkways. We continue along the beach parallel to the fence of the \u00c1rvore campsite; just\n          at the end of the campsite we head inland, passing by a block of flats where we see the\n          Azurara Surf School (with road signs). We turn left along a concrete pavement painted\n          yellow, next to a wooden slatted lane, until an arrow turns us to the right onto a cobbled\n          track; we cross a small bridge over an estuary and take Rua Francisco Gon\u00e7alves Monteir\u00f3\n          to the left, until we reach a small road (Rua da Junqueira) that takes us to Azurara. Here\n          this route joins the &#8220;historical route&#8221; coming from Padr\u00e3o da L\u00e9gua and the airport. When\n          you reach the N13 road, turn left and cross the bridge over the river Ave on the same\n          pavement. On the other side we see the convent of Santa Clara. After crossing the bridge\n          we enter Vila do Conde; the road continues on the left hand side, parallel to the river,\n          until we reach Pra\u00e7a da Rep\u00fablica. From Pra\u00e7a da Rep\u00fablica the arrows lead us to the old\n          part of the town, along Rua do Lidador to the Pa\u00e7os do Conselho (Town Hall) and in front\n          of the church. You can get your credential stamped at the tourist offices, at the Conselho\n          (Town Hall) or at the pilgrims&#8217; hostel. Be careful, because from Vila do Conde they have\n          also marked inland arrows that lead to S\u00e3o Pedro de Rates, a town on the Central\n          Portuguese Way, which would take us away from the route along the coast.\n        <\/p>\n      <\/div>\n      <hr \/>\n      <div>\n        <h4>Km 10.7 &#8231; Vila de Conde<\/h4>\n        <p>\n          We continue uphill along the narrow Rua da Igreja and turn right along Rua da Costa,\n          walking up to Rua dos Benguiados, where we reach a roundabout. We continue straight on\n          along Rua dos Benguiados itself, along the fence of an institute and a school, and\n          continue along Rua da Estrada Velha and Rua das Violetas, passing by the cemetery of\n          Caxinhas. Along Rua dos Ferreiros we enter the municipality of P\u00f3voa de Varzim. We\n          continue straight on towards Pra\u00e7a do Almada. We are in the centre of the town, where we\n          have the town hall and, very close by, the metro station.
