It is not a question of discouraging you, just warning you, because <strong>although\n\t\t\t\t\t\twe will\n\t\t\t\t\t\tfind infinity of positive things<\/strong> in doing the Way with our best friend, we will also\n\t\t\t\t\tlive\n\t\t\t\t\tunfavorable situations that we will have to learn to manage, forming a team with our faithful\n\t\t\t\t\tcompanion.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t<section>\n\t\t\t\t<h2 id=\"Antes\">Before starting the Camino de Santiago<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Before we start walking we must know certain things regarding preparation, how to get to Sarria, etc.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"mt-3\">Physical training<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<p>You will need a good physical preparation but our hairy friend also <strong>needs a good\n\t\t\t\t\t\tpreparation<\/strong>. Although there are still people who believe that the animal does not\n\t\t\t\t\tsuffer, gets\n\t\t\t\t\ttired, has shoelaces, etc.. We know for a fact that the Camino will be as hard for them as it is for\n\t\t\t\t\tus.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>A couple of months before starting the Camino de Santiago, <strong>we recommend taking the dog for\n\t\t\t\t\t\tlong\n\t\t\t\t\t\twalks<\/strong> to get him used to doing exercise.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"mt-3\" id=\"Preparacion\">Example of preparation<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t<ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li>Leave <strong>early in the morning<\/strong> to walk at a fast pace for an hour or so, in which\n\t\t\t\t\t\twe will\n\t\t\t\t\t\ttravel about 7 km.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li>Again, <strong>late in the afternoon<\/strong>, do 2 more hours, at a good pace. During this\n\t\t\t\t\t\ttime, you\n\t\t\t\t\t\tcan travel about 15 kilometers. In this way, at the end of the day, the dog will have done more\n\t\t\t\t\t\tthan 20\n\t\t\t\t\t\tkilometers.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li>You will <strong>have to go through dirt, stone or road tracks<\/strong> in order to harden your\n\t\t\t\t\t\tpads as\n\t\t\t\t\t\tmuch as possible. However, there are also products that we can apply to your legs to help them\n\t\t\t\t\t\tharden\n\t\t\t\t\t\tand avoid injuries and bruises.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Worm the animal inside and out<\/strong>; inside with an anti-parasite tablet and outside\n\t\t\t\t\t\twith an\n\t\t\t\t\t\tanti-flea pipette and ticks,<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li>Wear a <strong>water resistant tick collar<\/strong> during the stages. We will cross wooded\n\t\t\t\t\t\tareas where\n\t\t\t\t\t\tthese harmful beings abound for our animal. In addition, we may meet other dogs along the Way\n\t\t\t\t\t\tand they\n\t\t\t\t\t\tare tick owners.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"mt-3\" id=\"Mochila\">Backpack preparation<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Previously, in another post, we talked about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/que-llevo-en-la-mochila-para-hacer-el-camino-de-santiago\/\">what to carry in the backpack<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\tduring the\n\t\t\t\t\tCamino de Santiago, however, now we have the factor of carrying in it what is necessary for our pet.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>What we still don&#8217;t know is what we need to bring to make the experience more enjoyable for our\n\t\t\t\t\tfour-legged\n\t\t\t\t\tfriend.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"mt-3\">General object list<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t<ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Documentation of the animal:<\/strong>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Veterinary health certificate and document accrediting anti-rabies vaccination.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Certificate of identification with microchip and vaccination card<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Harness and leash<\/strong>: We recommend this accessory because the collar can end up\n\t\t\t\t\t\tdamaging\n\t\t\t\t\t\tour dog if he has to be tied for a long time. Another good alternative is to get a\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<em>canicross<\/em> (a\n\t\t\t\t\t\tcontraption to carry our pet tied to the hip).<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Dog raincoat.<\/strong><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Quick drying towel<\/strong>: It is recommended to bring a specific towel for the animal.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Foldable drinker<\/strong>: Made of waterproof fabric, very useful for its reduced size\n\t\t\t\t\t\tand\n\t\t\t\t\t\tweight.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Food<\/strong>: We recommend carrying about two kilos of feed (preferably\n\t\t\t\t\t\ttop-of-the-range)\n\t\t\t\t\t\tdistributed in sachets of ration.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Feeder<\/strong>: To mix feed with other foods.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Stool bags<\/strong>: We must think that we will not only cross mountains and rural\n\t\t\t\t\t\tareas, but we\n\t\t\t\t\t\twill also walk along urban centers and above all we must be responsible with the acts of our\n\t\t\t\t\t\tpets.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Dog footwear<\/strong>: To protect our dog&#8217;s pads.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Cream for pads.<\/strong><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Mat<\/strong>: In case our pet has to spend some night in the open air.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"mt-3\" id=\"Credencial-Canina\">Dog Credential<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Since the beginning of 2018, dogs that make the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, can get, like\n\t\t\t\t\tits\n\t\t\t\t\towner, <strong>the Perregrina or Compostela Dog<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>This initiative is carried out by the <a\n\t\t\t\t\t\thref=\"https:\/\/apaca.protecms.com\/articulo\/538-httpapacaprotecmscomuploadspasaporte20canino20de20hacer20el20camino202pdf\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\trel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Asociaci\u00f3n Protectora de Animais do\n\t\t\t\t\t\tCami\u00f1o<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t(<strong>APACA<\/strong>) in order to satisfy the multitudes of requests from pilgrims who make the\n\t\t\t\t\tWay of\n\t\t\t\t\tSt. James accompanied by their pets and thus, raise awareness to hostels that facilitate access to\n\t\t\t\t\ttheir\n\t\t\t\t\tpets.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Although the credential <strong>does not have an official character<\/strong> because it does not have\n\t\t\t\t\tthe\n\t\t\t\t\tseal of the Catholic Church, it is a great step to sensitize pilgrims to the abandonment of animals\n\t\t\t\t\tand\n\t\t\t\t\ttheir mistreatment on the Jacobean routes.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Its operation is the same as <a\n\t\t\t\t\t\thref=\"https:\/\/www.pilgrim.es\/en\/plan-your-way\/pilgrims-accreditation\/\">the\n\t\t\t\t\t\tconventional Pilgrim&#8217;s Credential<\/a>, it must be stamped during the route and finally in\n\t\t\t\t\tSantiago,\n\t\t\t\t\t<strong>deliver the document in R\/ Fonti\u00f1as 27<\/strong>, at the entrance of the city by the French\n\t\t\t\t\tWay.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"row align-items-center mt-4\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-md-7\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"mt-3\">How much does it cost and where to get it?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The price of the Dog Credential and the Perregrina is 3 \u20ac.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>If you buy the pack, Credential + Compostela Dog, is 5 \u20ac.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>In Galicia:<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>In the APACA store, in Santiago de Compostela, (R\u00faa Fonti\u00f1as 27) <strong>Every\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWay.<\/strong>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Ecoespazo Vitriol, in Sarria.<strong> Camino Franc\u00e9s<\/strong><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>San L\u00e1zaro Hostel in Sarria.<strong> Camino Franc\u00e9s<\/strong><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Lucana Shop, in A Coru\u00f1a. <strong>Camino Ingl\u00e9s<\/strong><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Le Crepe da P\u00eda. The only existing conditions are that it is tied up and if it weighs\n\t\t\t\t\t\tmore\n\t\t\t\t\t\tthan 10 kilos that it takes muzzle, another positive point of this means of transport is that\n\t\t\t\t\t\tyour pet\n\t\t\t\t\t\ttravels for free.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Medium\/long distance, AVE, etc.:<\/strong> Only dogs weighing less than 10 kilos may\n\t\t\t\t\t\ttravel on\n\t\t\t\t\t\tone of these trains, always within a carrier of dimensions 60x35x35 cm, which we must carry. In\n\t\t\t\t\t\taddition, in most trains, we must pay a supplement to take our pet.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t<p>On the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.renfe.com\/viajeros\/info\/animales.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">Renfe<\/a> website we\n\t\t\t\t\twill\n\t\t\t\t\tfind all the necessary information about the conditions that travelling with a pet is going to\n\t\t\t\t\tentail for\n\t\t\t\t\tus.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"mt-3\">By bus<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t<p>With the exception of the guide dogs, the law establishes that the animals will have to travel\n\t\t\t\t\t<strong>in\n\t\t\t\t\t\twarehouse inside a carrier<\/strong>, this solution does not seem to us very suitable because our\n\t\t\t\t\tdog\n\t\t\t\t\twill travel between suitcases and next to the noisy motor of the bus.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Imagine putting yourself in their situation, not going in a seat with all the comforts, and also\n\t\t\t\t\treceiving\n\t\t\t\t\tblows from the luggage of other passengers and with a shocking noise throughout the journey.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"mt-3\">By plane<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t<p>In low cost companies traveling with a dog <strong>is usually forbidden<\/strong> in any way.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>In the rest of the company the &#8220;mini&#8221;
