stage<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\n\t\t\t<p>We leave behind the capital of the Maragater\u00eda to face a new stage with two distinct\n\t\t\t\tparts. The first kilometres will involve a succession of typical villages of the Castilian\n\t\t\t\tplain, all of them framed within the area formerly known as the Country of the Maragatos\n\t\t\t\tor the Somoza. We will walk among ashlar buildings and vestiges of the old muleteers,\n\t\t\t\tthose who were in charge of transporting goods across the length and breadth of the\n\t\t\t\tpeninsula with the help of pack animals. On the other hand, in the second part of this\n\t\t\t\tstage, we will change the gentle undulations of the plain for the ascent to the Bierzo\n\t\t\t\tregion, through the mountains of Le\u00f3n.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t\t<div class=\"recomendation-card\">\n\t\t\t\t<div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"icon-logo-pilgrim\"><\/i>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5>Recommendation Pilgrim<\/h5>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\n\t\t\t\t<p>Despite having some ascendant sections, they will not even be appreciated by most pilgrims. They will\n\t\t\t\t\tonly become a little harder right before reaching Foncebad\u00f3n. Cyclists nor people with reduced\n\t\t\t\t\tmobility will have any problem when walking the distance between Astorga and Foncebad\u00f3n, except by\n\t\t\t\t\tloose rocks. However, cyclists can take in the last kilometers the LE-142 road at the crossroad when\n\t\t\t\t\tleaving Rabanal to the right, as the narrow path where the Way goes originally one may be a little\n\t\t\t\t\tdifficult for them.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t<p>Some pilgrims choose to pass the night at Rabanal del Camino, where they can find all the services\n\t\t\t\t\tthey need. We then pass in front of the church of Santa\n\t\t\t\t\tMarta and the cathedral of Santa Mar\u00eda; in front of the latter we take Leopoldo Panero\n\t\t\t\t\tstreet until the end, turn right into Puerta Obispo street, and continue straight on along\n\t\t\t\t\tSan Pedro street. Further on we cross the N-VI national road and continue straight on\n\t\t\t\t\talong Calle de los M\u00e1rtires, leaving Astorga.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t<p>We then pass the Ecce Homo hermitage and\n\t\t\t\t\tleave the small village of Valdeviejas on our right. After almost three kilometres we come\n\t\t\t\t\tto the A-6 motorway; we cross it at the top, following the road to Santa Colomba de\n\t\t\t\t\tSomoza (LE-142). At the entrance to Murias de Rechivaldo we turn off onto a road to the\n\t\t\t\t\tleft of the road; however, we have the option of following this road to visit Castrillo de los\n\t\t\t\t\tPolvazares, a beautiful village and an excellent example of Maragata architecture,\n\t\t\t\t\tdeclared a Historic-Artistic Site. We cross the LE-142 road and\n\t\t\t\t\tcontinue straight on towards Santa Catalina de Somoza.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<hr \/>\n\n\t\t\t<div>\n\t\t\t\t<h4>Km 9,2 &#8231; Santa Catalina de Somoza<\/h4>\n\n\t\t\t\t<p>At the exit we follow a track that runs parallel to a local road.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<hr \/>\n\n\t\t\t<div>\n\t\t\t\t<h4>Km 13,3 &#8231; El Ganso<\/h4>\n\n\t\t\t\t<p>At the exit we follow a path parallel to a local road. After a little over four kilometres we\n\t\t\t\t\ttake the road to Rabanal del Camino on the left. A little more than a hundred metres\n\t\t\t\t\tfurther on we follow a path to the right, which later comes back out onto the same road.\n\t\t\t\t\tWe pass by the monumental Roble del Peregrino (Pilgrim&#8217;s Oak), a hundred-year-old oak\n\t\t\t\t\ttree. Shortly afterwards we pass by the Santo Cristo de la Vera Cruz hermitage. At the\n\t\t\t\t\tentrance to Rabanal the path follows the Calle Real, on the right.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<hr \/>\n\n\t\t\t<div>\n\t\t\t\t<h4>Km 20,2 &#8231; Rabanal del Camino<\/h4>\n\n\t\t\t\t<p>In winter, from Rabanal onwards, there is often snow and harsh weather conditions:\n\t\t\t\t\tintense cold, thick fog, etc. We leave the village along Calle Real and, climbing steadily\n\t\t\t\t\tupwards, we continue along tracks and paths that are always close to the road.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWe cross\n\t\t\t\t\tthe LE-142 road only to cross it again one kilometre later.
